Siblings – a lifelong friendship?

Søskende

Margrethe Brun Hansen

A good relationship between siblings creates a sense of security and is an invaluable lifelong support. But why do some siblings have a very deep and close relationship, while others do not? And can we as parents help ensure that our children form good relations and a strong sense of solidarity, so they really benefit from each other’s company?

In her new book, child psychologist Margrethe Brun Hansen presents her ideas on what parents can do in order for our children to develop a harmonious and loving relationship with one another. One of her focal points is how children mimic their parents’ behaviour towards each other, and she describes how we can help our children solve their conflicts in a respectful manner.

The book also describes how the different personalities of siblings, their place in the family and not least the difference in age between them influence their relations to each other and to us as parents.

With her background and extensive experience working with children and families, Margrethe Brun Hansen is able to give many everyday examples, and each chapter is rounded off with a list of concrete advice and tools on how to support our children’s relationship with one another.
